For Motorola Edge 30 Pro users, also known as Motorola Edge+ 2022 users in some regions, the past week or so has been riddled with frustration. What started as a routine software update to April 2024 security patch (build T1SHS33.35-23-20-14 or T1SHS33.35-23-20-6-2-6 depending on the Moto Edge 30 Pro model) has transformed into a daily annoyance resulting from a 2-5 seconds delay when unlocking the screen from sleep mode.
The once-seamless experience of unlocking the phone with a fingerprint sensor or power button has vanished. Now, Motorola Edge+ 2022 users are forced to wait excruciating seconds as their phone seemingly struggles to wake up from standby mode. This screen unlock delay plagues any action taken after the phone has been idle for a short period, be it unlocking with the fingerprint sensor, tapping the screen to see notifications, or even something as simple as turning on the flashlight. Imagine reaching for your phone in a dimly lit room, needing the flashlight, only to be met with a frustrating lag that disrupts the flow of the moment. This is what’s been happening to Moto Edge 30 Pro users since the April update.

Here’s how some users describe the issue:
[I’m] experiencing delayed fingerprint sensoring after the latest update of T1SHS33.35-23-20-6-2-6. It happens when a idled edge 30 pro(about 1 min) first waked up by fingerprint sensoring. But after the phone is waked and locked screen again, the sensoring delay disappears in the second wake-up.
Hello, today my phone was updated only to patch T1SHS33.35-23-20-14 and the update came with a new bug. When you want to turn it on after being with the screen off for a while, it takes a few seconds to recognize that you rested your finger on the fingerprint reader/press the power button. I[t] didn’t do this before the update, it turned on immediately.
The source of the problem doesn’t seem to be the fingerprint sensor or the power button themselves. Several users have reported that the phone seems to get stuck in a frozen state when entering sleep mode (screen off). This lag of roughly 2-5 seconds persists until the phone is woken up for the first time. Thankfully, subsequent lock and wakes within a short time frame seem to bypass this delay, but it’s a small consolation for a recurring issue that disrupts the user experience.
On the brighter side, a Moto Agent has recently acknowledged the growing user concerns. The message assured users that the screen unlock delay is being investigated and requested their help in submitting feedback logs through settings on their affected Edge 30 Pro units. The instructions involve navigating to Settings > Ratings & Feedback, selecting a rating and providing details about the lag. Crucially, you’re also urged to include diagnostic data within the report and ensure your phone profile is updated with accurate information.
While the official response offers some solace, no one knows when Motorola will fix the screen unlock delay on the Edge 30 Pro. Unfortunately, I also didn’t come across any user-suggested workaround that solves the problem even on a temporary basis.
The constant lag disrupts the phone’s responsiveness and undermines the user experience. With any luck, the information collected through the feedback system will help Motorola identify the culprit and deliver a solution quickly. But until then, Motorola Edge 30 Pro users might have to develop a newfound patience for those first few moments after waking their phone.
Motorola is also looking into camera lag issues caused by the new AI enhancements in the Moto Edge 50 Pro as well as Moto Edge 40 Neo slow charging and overheating issues.

This is still an issue, Motorola lost many customers for this.
