Samsung Galaxy users who have recently updated to One UI 6.1 are finding themselves seeing blue — not in the emotional sense, but rather, in the form of unexpected blue borders around windows when using split screen mode.

This peculiar issue has been popping up in the Korean community forums, with users reporting that the once inconspicuous gray borders have been replaced with a bright blue after the update. The problem doesn’t discriminate either, affecting both foldable and non-foldable Galaxy devices.

“It was so annoying that I tried to change the color again, but no matter how much I searched, I couldn’t find the function to change the color again,” one user shared [translated], highlighting the frustration others may be going through silently. Another user simply asked, “How do I change the color? It’s so uncomfortable.”

Here’s a screenshot of the issue shared by one of those affected in the Korean community forum:

The issue appears to have primarily emerged after a recent iteration of the One UI 6.1 update, likely the May patch, judging by the timeline of user reports. Initially, Samsung seemed unaware of the problem, with a forum moderator claiming they couldn’t reproduce the issue and urging users to submit feedback.

However, in a recent update, the same moderator acknowledged the issue, stating, “We are aware of this issue internally and are working on improvements with the One UI 6.1.1 update.” They even offered a temporary workaround: toggling the dark mode setting on and off.

Although Samsung hasn’t announced a release date for One UI 6.1.1, reports suggest that testing for the new update has already begun for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Considering that foldable devices are the most likely to utilize split screen mode, it seems Samsung is prioritizing a fix for these users.

While the blue borders might seem like a minor inconvenience to some, for those who frequently use split screen mode, it’s a constant visual distraction. The good news is that Samsung is actively working on a solution, and with the One UI 6.1.1 update on the horizon, relief may be coming sooner rather than later for frustrated Galaxy users.
