Samsung Galaxy users hoping for a vertical scrolling app drawer in One UI 6.1.1 have been met with disappointment, as the long-awaited feature is still missing in action. For years, the default One UI experience has stuck with a horizontal scrolling app drawer, and although Good Lock once provided a way to switch to vertical scrolling, Samsung had unceremoniously removed that option. Hopes were reignited earlier this year when a Samsung moderator hinted that the feature was making a comeback with the Home Up component of Good Lock in One UI 6.1.1.
Fast forward to present day, One UI 6.1.1 is rolling out to users, and guess what? No sign of that vertical scrolling app drawer. Galaxy users, especially those who’ve been loyal to Samsung’s ecosystem, are flooding forums and Reddit with complaints. It’s a familiar story: frustrated users switching back to custom launchers like Nova because they just can’t deal with the horizontal scrolling. Some even feel that despite the promised return, it might be too little, too late, as they’ve grown attached to Nova’s smooth transitions and customization options.
Interestingly, the current Home Up screenshots in the Galaxy Store still show that vertical scrolling app drawer is supported, as seen below.
Even seasoned Samsung users who returned to the fold after years away are puzzled by the absence of the vertical option they once relied on. While the Good Lock team is rumored to be working on bringing it back in a future update, the wait continues. In the meantime, users are left juggling between sticking with Samsung’s default setup or turning to third-party launchers that, although great, may not fully integrate with One UI.
So, the vertical app drawer in One UI 6.1.1 remains something of a mirage for now, with Galaxy fans left wondering just how much longer they’ll have to wait. For now, it seems the Samsung launcher will continue scrolling horizontally, and we’ll just have to hope for that fabled future update.
