Samsung Galaxy phone users might have to wait a little longer for the Android 15-based One UI 7 update, but when it arrives, it appears to be bringing the biggest changes to the user interface yet.

Rumors suggest a delay due to Samsung prioritizing the rollout of One UI 6.1.1, which is expected to launch for the Galaxy S24 series in August. This update will reportedly boast “many new” AI features, including camera improvements for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6.

One UI 6.1.1 also seems to be catering to S Pen users with a new “graffiti generation” image function, though details about its functionality remain unclear. This feature, along with some unspecified AI enhancements, may be extended to “many models” beyond the Galaxy S24 Ultra according to leaks.

The update for the S24 series is also said to include an HDR10+ upgrade for the Instant Slow-Mo feature, allowing users to capture slow-motion video with a wider dynamic range.

While One UI 6.1.1 focuses on specific features, the rumors surrounding One UI 7.0 paint a picture of a more comprehensive overhaul. Leaks suggest a complete icon redesign and, more importantly, a significant improvement to animations, the latter being the most requested by users as per the poll results below.

This has been confirmed by a Samsung official on Reddit who stated that “One UI 7 will be the most massive One UI update with animation changes and Galaxy AI 2.0, just get ready!”

Galaxy AI 2.0 remains shrouded in mystery, but the name suggests a major leap forward in Samsung’s on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.

While the exact launch date for One UI 7.0 remains uncertain due to the focus on One UI 6.1.1, Samsung Galaxy users can expect a significant UI refresh, improved animations and potentially powerful new AI features when it arrives.
