One of Samsung users’ biggest gripes with the One UI 6.1 update earlier this year was that it combined the AOD and lock screen customization. Since then, many users have been demanding Samsung to restore the ability to customize the lock screen and AOD individually. Luckily, Samsung seems to have heard the feedback and might be readying an improvement in this area.

Responding to a complaint on Samsung’s Korean community forums, a Good Lock moderator claimed, “In the next OS (One UI 7.0), we will support individual settings for notification items on the lock screen and AOD screen.” Here’s a screenshot of their entire response. Just bear in mind that the text has been roughly translated from Korean to English:

This suggests that with One UI 7, users will be able to customize their notification settings on the lock screen and AOD separately. While this change is certainly welcome news for many Samsung users, it’s important to note that One UI 7 is still in development and likely won’t be released until late 2024 or early 2025. Recent reports suggest that even Samsung isn’t sure when it’ll be ready to get the One UI 7 beta out there.

Other rumored features for One UI 7 include:

  1. Enhanced AI capabilities: Building on the Galaxy AI features introduced in One UI 6.1, Samsung is expected to integrate more artificial intelligence throughout the user interface.
  2. Redesigned Quick Settings panel: Some leaks suggest a refreshed look for the Quick Settings area, potentially offering more customization options.
  3. Extended DeX functionality: Samsung’s desktop experience mode may receive significant updates to bridge the gap between mobile and PC usage even further.
  4. More customization: Users might get more granular control over system-wide appearance settings, including fonts, icons, and color schemes.

Android Authority has a detailed article on what you can expect to see with One UI 7 that you can check out here. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait for Samsung to unveil One UI 7 based on Android 15 for a better look at what the new skin brings to the table.
