Samsung users can’t seem to catch a break with One UI 7. After waiting for months for the update to land due to several delays, those who finally received the update started noticing a wide variety of bugs and issues and some controversial changes. After digging through Samsung’s community forums and Reddit, I noticed a growing number of complaints pointing towards network and SIM card problems emerging right after the update. Many users report losing cellular service entirely, while others experience frustratingly slow data speeds and intermittent connectivity.
Customers on various carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, and Mint Mobile have all chimed in with similar stories. It seems no particular network is immune. One user with an S23 on AT&T described losing wireless service completely after the update. They tried their SIM card in an older phone, and it worked fine. This suggests the issue lies with the updated S23, not the carrier account or the SIM itself.
The problems range from total loss of signal, displaying “Emergency Calls only” or “Mobile Network Unavailable,” to severely degraded mobile data performance. Some users even report their phones behaving as if no SIM card is inserted, or showing incorrect SIM manager settings. The frustration is clear.
“My S23 was updated with One UI 7 successfully yesterday. But since then I have completely lost AT&T wireless service. Only wifi call works,” shared one user, detailing their experience. “I inserted the Sim card to my older AT&T phones, it works. I talked to AT&T, was told that my account is fine and they couldn’t figure why my S23 can’t access the network after One UI 7 update.”
Another user, an S23+ owner, echoed this sentiment. They mentioned constant signal drops and a persistent “Emergency Calls only” message. They even switched carriers and visited a repair shop, but the issue persisted. This points strongly to the software update being the root cause.
“I’ve had the same problem. It displays normally for a few minutes, then drops to one bar of signal, then says Mobile Network Unavailable or Emergency Calls only,” a frustrated user posted. “I thought at first it was a carrier issue, so I changed from Cricket to Mint Mobile and the problem persisted. I thought it could be a hardware issue, so I took it to a repair place and they found nothing. The last culprit was this system update, so I’m relieved to see that I’m not the only one.”
The issue isn’t limited to a single Galaxy model. Reports span across devices such as the S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S21FE, and even the Fold 6. This wide range of affected devices further strengthens the belief that the One UI 7 update is at fault.
Some users have tried various troubleshooting steps, including toggling airplane mode, reinserting SIM cards, resetting network settings, and even performing factory resets. For many, these efforts have been in vain.
“Has anyone else had a very noticeable impact on mobile data speeds and network signals after updating to One UI 7?” asked a user on Reddit. “Before the update both my signal strength and data speeds were pretty good outdoors, decent indoors and I never really had many issues with my connection. After updating to One UI 7 however, my phone now struggles to pick up my previously good signal and data speeds have became abysmally slow.”
The widespread nature of these complaints suggests a significant flaw in the One UI 7 rollout. Samsung has yet to release an official statement or a patch to address these critical network and SIM card issues. We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will update the article if we spot something worth sharing.
