The OnePlus 13s has barely been in users’ hands for a few weeks, but already the first green line display issue has been reported. A Reddit user shared their frustrating experience with the brand new device developing the notorious display problem that has plagued several OnePlus models over the years.

The user, posting on r/oneplus, explained that their recently purchased OnePlus 13s started showing a green line that would appear for a few seconds before disappearing. The problem escalated when the line appeared again and stayed visible until the device was restarted. Despite documenting the issue with photos and recordings, the OnePlus service center refused immediate replacement, citing that the recordings didn’t show the device’s IMEI number.

“They immediately told me that replacement is not possible, as the recording does not show the IMEI number,” the frustrated owner wrote. The service center kept the phone for two hours to retrieve logs and instructed the user to monitor for further occurrences, but pointed to their 15-day replacement policy as a potential roadblock.

The green line issue is a hardware problem affecting phones with AMOLED displays, and it’s being encountered across devices from all brands using these screen technologies. OLED screens use millions of tiny pixels that generate light independently, and when these pixels malfunction or their controlling circuitry fails, unwanted lines or color distortions can appear. You can read all about the phenomenon in our detailed analysis here.

Unfortunately, there’s no software fix for the green line issue, and the only solution is to replace the phone’s display. For a device that’s barely weeks old, this represents a significant quality control concern.

However, OnePlus does offer some protection for affected users in India. The company provides a lifetime display warranty, and in rare cases where a device develops a green line, users can get a free display replacement at authorized service centers. That said, it still stings to have to replace a brand-new phone’s screen rather than get a replacement unit.

The community response has been mixed, with some users expressing shock that such a new device would face this issue. One commenter noted, “Green line in 13s? That too brand new? How is that even possible?” Others shared their own experiences with older OnePlus models receiving free display replacements.

Meanwhile, OnePlus 12 users received some welcome news with the rollout of OxygenOS 15.0.0.840, which quietly introduced bypass charging functionality. This feature allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger during gaming sessions instead of routing it through the battery, significantly reducing device heat and potentially extending battery lifespan.

The bypass charging feature wasn’t mentioned in the official changelog, leading to some confusion among users. However, those who updated can find the option within the Game Center settings when playing supported games.

So while OnePlus is clearly working to add more useful features to its phones, it can’t seem to catch a break with the green line display problem that continues to plague it. But, before getting worried about your purchase, it’s worth noting that this is the only report of the problem we managed to find online. Considering that the phone only recently went on sale, we’ll just have to wait and see how this holds up in the coming months.
