OnePlus has finally spilled the beans on the full release roadmap for OxygenOS 15 beyond just the OnePlus 12, and it’s safe to say, there’s a lot to look forward to. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the updates, you’ll know the Open Beta rollout for the OnePlus 12 starts October 30. But now, thanks to an announcement on Discord, we have a much clearer picture for other OnePlus devices.
Here’s the breakdown for the OxygenOS 15 Open Beta rollout for eligible OnePlus devices:
- OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R: Beta begins October 30, 2024.
- OnePlus Open, OnePlus Pad 2: Mark your calendars for November 2024.
- OnePlus 11, 11R, Nord 4, Nord CE 4, Nord CE 4 Lite, OnePlus Pad: Set for December 2024.
- OnePlus 10 Pro, 10T, Nord 3: Expect the rollout in January 2025.
- OnePlus 10R, Nord CE 3 5G: February 2025 will be your time.
It’s not all good news though. Some devices won’t be getting the update. Devices like the OnePlus Nord N30 and OnePlus Nord N30 SE have been confirmed to miss out entirely. Additionally, this is expected to be the final major Android version update for the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, 10R, and 10T, so if you’re hanging onto one of these, OxygenOS 15 will be your last stop on the major update train.
But let’s not just dwell on the dates. Once this update lands on your device, there’s plenty you can look forward to.
OnePlus isn’t holding back on OxygenOS 15 — it’s leaning heavily into AI, and with good reason. One of the standout additions is AI Detail Boost, a cloud-powered feature that detects pixelated or blurry images and enhances them with a single tap, upscaling them to 4K. This includes a powerful AI Unblur feature to clean up those dodgy, out-of-focus shots, similar to what Google does on Pixel devices.
Then there’s Intelligent Search that digs into system apps like Settings, Files, and Notes, letting you find specific files with natural language queries like “How much did I spend on food last month?” A new Pass Scan function will make managing your life easier. Just snap a picture of tickets, boarding passes, or other scannable info and store them in Google Wallet for easy access later.
OnePlus is also pushing multitasking boundaries with Open Canvas, bringing it from foldable devices like the OnePlus Open to regular slab phones. This lets you run two apps in split-screen mode without shrinking them. On the UI front, you’ll notice some lovely new design touches like shimmering animations when charging or installing apps, along with an improved Shelf Cards system that lets you customize your home screen with various widget sizes.
If you’re a OnePlus user, this roadmap is your new best friend. The wait for OxygenOS 15 starts October 30 for some, but most will have to be a bit more patient. OnePlus isn’t just tweaking the surface here; it’s integrating powerful AI functions, making multitasking smoother, and even throwing in tools like AI Detail Boost to turn your phone into a powerhouse of convenience.
