It looks like the newly released iOS 18 is shaking things up a bit — but not in the way Perplexity AI users were hoping. The popular AI app has been crashing left and right on iPhones running the latest iOS 18 update, and users aren’t shy about voicing their frustrations.

The glitch, which has been plaguing users since the iOS 18 update rolled out, seems to be sending them into an endless crash loop. You tap the Perplexity app, it opens for a split second, and then boom — you’re back on your home screen. Reinstalling hasn’t helped, and folks are understandably a bit panicked, with one user calling it a “very important app for me.”

The good news? Perplexity’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, has stepped in to calm the storm. In response to the growing number of complaints, Srinivas took to X to acknowledge the issue, noting that “Perplexity on iOS 18 crashes and bugs are being fixed. Thanks for flagging them.” So, while it’s not working now, at least we know the team is on it.

While the crashing bug is currently the talk of the town, Perplexity fans have something to look forward to — more focused searches. Srinivas confirmed that this feature is coming soon, which could make navigating the app even easier once the crash issue is fixed.

And there’s more on the horizon! When asked about bringing Perplexity to macOS, the CEO dropped a simple yet promising “OK” — which, in tech CEO language, means, “Yeah, it’s happening.” So, Mac users, sit tight, because a desktop app might just be in the works.

For now, though, iOS 18 users will need to hang tight until the Perplexity team can patch things up. But rest assured, your favorite AI-powered search buddy will be back soon. Hopefully, this is just a small bump in the road before the app is back to helping you out in all its AI glory.
