I’ve been tracking the Pinterest account ban situation for the past week, and it’s been quite the rollercoaster. Thousands of users have reported sudden account deactivations without clear explanations, but there might finally be a glimmer of hope for those affected.

Pinterest finally acknowledged the situation yesterday through a brief statement on X saying: “We hear your concerns about recent account deactivations on Pinterest. To ensure Pinterest remains a safe and positive platform, we continuously monitor for content that violates our Community Guidelines and accounts with violative content may be deactivated as a result. If you think your account was deactivated by mistake, please send us a DM.”

The response has been met with frustration from many users. As Reddit user gremlinfrommars put it: “I particularly like (not) how they (not very) discreetly paint the consumers as the ones who did wrong, and they need to go out of their way to dm the can-do-no-wrong perfect pinterest twitter account, who is obviously completely innocent and doesn’t have aaaany of the responsibility in this mass banning.”

Pinterest has also pinned a comment on their Instagram regarding the account deactivations, directing users to DM them about their issues.

And from what I’ve seen in the Pinterest subreddit, at least a handful of users have recently had their accounts reinstated. Two users confirmed getting their accounts back on April 30, despite being banned since March. One mentioned being helped directly by a Pinterest employee named Gary, while another regained access to their account but unfortunately lost all their uploaded videos.

This matches what I’ve noticed while scrolling through the Reddit community – several users have reported receiving human responses instead of automated messages in the last 48 hours. User NoKnowledge4938 shared: “There are still actual humans reviewing cases. Accounts can be reinstated, even if it’s been weeks or months. Accounts can be reinstated even if you are initially told it is a permanent decision.”

However, many users remain rightfully upset. A lot of them have lost years of saved content and personal uploads with no warning. Reddit user KeyRaise expressed what many are feeling: “The main deal was: fine. You wanna delete my account ok. But at least let me get my years worth of original stuff and inspiration out??”

For those still fighting to recover their accounts, persistence seems to be key. Multiple users who initially received permanent ban notices have reported success after continuing to appeal through various channels. Some recommend contacting Pinterest through Instagram, X, or repeatedly using the appeals section on their website.

If your Pinterest account has been caught in this ban wave, don’t give up just yet – keep appealing, try reaching out through different platforms, and hopefully your years of pins will be restored soon.
