Xbox players are reporting widespread issues connecting to online games, with many encountering a mysterious ‘Roberts-Obispo’ error message. The problem appears to be affecting a range of popular titles including Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, and others on Xbox Series S and X consoles. The issue seems to have emerged following a recent console update and subsequent factory resets. Many users report that after resetting their consoles – either with or without keeping games and apps – they are unable to connect to game servers. This has left countless players locked out of their favorite online games, causing frustration across the Xbox community.
One frustrated players said, “I did a factory reset with keeping my games and apps feature enabled. When I tried to play my games after that, Fortnite and Warzone, both games say that I am not able to connect to their servers. Fortnite remains stuck at ‘Logging in to EOS’, Unable to login into your epic games account, please try again later. Warzone says ‘Roberts Obispo’.” The problem doesn’t appear to be affecting all online functionality. Many users report that web browsing and game downloads continue to work normally, suggesting the issue is specific to game server connections rather than general internet connectivity.
Players have attempted various troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. These include clearing console cache, changing DNS settings, reinstalling games, connecting to different networks, and even performing multiple factory resets. Unfortunately, these common fixes don’t seem to be resolving the issue for most affected users.
There is, however, a potential workaround that some players have found success with: using a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. “No problems with an Ethernet cable instead,” reported one user who had been experiencing the issue. I read several dozen comments on Reddit, Microsoft’s forums, and comments on YouTube videos offering fixes for the bug, however, using an Ethernet cable is the only potential solution most people confirmed. So while this solution isn’t feasible for all players due to console placement or home networking limitations, it may provide a temporary fix for some.
The exact cause of the ‘Roberts-Obispo’ error remains unclear. Some community members speculate it’s related to a bug introduced in the recent console update. One user suggested, “It’s a bug that started with the console update on Wed. If you factory reset after that you will no longer be able to play most online games. You’ll have to wait for MS to fix it.”
As of now, Microsoft has not officially acknowledged the issue or provided any timeline for a fix. This lack of communication has left many players feeling frustrated and in the dark about when they might be able to return to their favorite games. FYI, this isn’t the first time Xbox players are seeing the error. The issue has happened in the past and usually gets fixed itself.
For now, affected Xbox owners are advised to try connecting via Ethernet if possible and to avoid performing factory resets on their consoles. Players should also keep an eye out for official updates from Microsoft or Xbox Support. Additionally, reporting the issue through official Xbox support channels may help increase awareness and potentially lead to a faster resolution.
