One of Samsung’s best Good Lock apps, One Hand Operation+, just got a new update. If you’ve never tried it, One Hand Operation+ creates customizable handles on each side of your Galaxy phone, making it easier to use your device with just one hand. The latest update, version 7.2.21.0, weighs in at 6.91 MB and comes with a few tweaks and changes that have left some users scratching their heads.
The official changelog for the update states the following changes:
[Version 7.2.21]
– Removed unsupported features. (Smart Select)
– Fixed the issue of not working during drag and drop.
– Bug fixes and stability improvements.
The update fixes a bug that affected drag-and-drop functionality in One UI 6.1 and beyond, which is great news for anyone who relies on this feature. But the biggest surprise? Samsung has removed Smart Select from One Hand Operation+. Smart Select let users easily crop parts of their screen in different ways — like using rectangles, ovals, animations, and even pinning content to the screen.
Interestingly, Smart Select hasn’t disappeared from all devices. On the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Smart Select options were still available after updating. For example, if you had Smart Select Rectangle mapped to a swipe gesture, it should still be there. But on the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, it’s a different story — Smart Select is gone completely. This interesting development was highlighted by YouTuber, Jeff Springer, who noticed that despite installing the latest One Hand Operation+ version, the Smart Select feature was still present on their S24 Ultra.
In an article on their own website, SammyGuru, Jeff went on to confirm that the feature was only missing from their Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices, not the S24U. Similarly, some users on Reddit also pointed out that they still have the feature after the update.
This inconsistency is frustrating for users who rely on these features, especially since there’s no clear explanation from Samsung about why the change is only affecting certain devices.
A user on Reddit claims that the removal of Smart Select from One Hand Operation+ is due to a new app being introduced in One UI 6.1.1. For devices running One UI 6.1.1, Samsung seems to have shifted Smart Select to this new app, which is why the option has been removed from One Hand Operation+. If you’re still on One UI 6.1 or an older version, you should still have access to Smart Select in One Hand Operation+.
However, those who have updated the Home app to the latest version might find that Smart Select is missing because the update wasn’t intended for your device. If you’ve already installed the update and lost Smart Select, the best course of action is to either wait for the One UI 6.1.1 or 7 update to get the new Smart Select app with AI features or roll back the Home app update to regain access to the older version of Smart Select.
If you rely on Smart Select and are worried about losing it, it’s probably best to hold off on updating One Hand Operation+ for now, especially if you’re on One UI 6.1 or older. If you’ve already updated and find that Smart Select is missing, you can try rolling back the update using APK Mirror, but this might not work for everyone.
