Samsung is spicing things up with its new One UI 7 update, taking a playful jab at Google and Apple. Thanks to a recent discovery by X user @renz_pzaway (Vince Lawrence), we now know that Samsung might be sneaking some familiar animations into its Home Up module within Good Lock.

According to Vince, Samsung’s upcoming Home Up tool will gesture animations inspired by Google Pixel and what Samsung cheekily refers to as ‘The scent of a certain fruit.’ Yes, that’s an unmistakable nod to Apple. Here’s a screenshot:

The Home Up module, part of Samsung’s Good Lock customization suite, allows users to tweak everything from the home screen layout to task-switching animations. With One UI 7, Samsung has added two intriguing options for the home gesture animations:

  • Pixel: Animations mimicking those found on Google’s Pixel devices.
  • The scent of a certain fruit: Samsung’s playful take on iOS-style animations.

This playful naming seems to be Samsung’s way of recognizing—and poking fun at—its biggest rivals. These new animations aim to give Samsung fans a taste of the smooth transitions found on Pixel phones and iPhones, all without having to leave the Galaxy ecosystem.

Of course, you can still play around with various other animation settings on the ‘Advanced tuning’ page. Basically, it gives you complete control over how you want your animations to look.

But that’s not all! One UI 7 will also finally let users customize their lock screen and AOD screens separately. Furthermore, Samsung might even add some Good Lock-exclusive customization options directly in One UI 7. So it seems like One UI 7 is shaping up to be one of the most customization-friendly Android skins ever.

Sadly, you might just have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on the One UI 7.0 update. Samsung says One UI 7’s beta testing will kick-start before the end of the year, while the stable release is expected early next year.
