The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, the latest marvel in foldable technology, has hit the market with a mix of fanfare and… peculiar sounds. Early adopters of the trendy foldable are encountering unexpected hinge noises when unfolding their sleek devices. From hinge creaks to screen pops, users are voicing their concerns across tech forums and social media.

The most common complaint centers around the phone’s hinge. Users are describing a variety of sounds, from soft clicks to more pronounced cracks and pops as the device unfolds. Some have even likened the noise to a peeling sound, raising concerns about the phone’s durability. Here’s a video shared on Reddit.

Z Flip 6 Hinge Making Clicking Sound

Imagine this: you’re showing off your brand-new Galaxy Z Flip 6 to your friends. You unfold it with a flourish, expecting gasps of admiration, but instead, you’re greeted with a disconcerting creak. That’s the reality some users are facing, as seen in the video above. Reports are pouring in about hinges making odd cracking and squeaking sounds during the unfolding process. But it doesn’t stop there. Pressing around the hinge area of the open phone can produce a popping noise, as if there’s an air bubble trapped under the screen. Below is a video of this issue.

Is anybody else's Flip 6 display like loose at the hinges? In this video I recorded, the clicking sound is the display touching what I'm assuming is the frame and then coming up. It only happens on the edges of the phone. I don't remember this happening on my Flip 4 or 5

One user shared that their phone made a strange cracking noise right out of the box. Another was dismayed to find that after just a week of use, their device sounded like a tiny popcorn machine every time they opened it. A few have even returned their phones, only to receive replacements with similar issues.

Some users suspect that the noise might be related to the screen protector starting to lift — a problem reminiscent of previous Flip models. Others are concerned about the durability of the hinge mechanism itself, fearing that these noises could be early warning signs of more significant issues down the line.

So, is it all bad news? Well, not necessarily. Some users have noted that the noises seem to decrease with use, suggesting that the hinge might just need a bit of breaking in. Meanwhile, Samsung store display models appear to be noise-free, leading to speculation that this issue could be batch-specific or related to initial manufacturing quirks.

As of now, Samsung hasn’t released an official statement addressing these hinge and screen noises affecting the Galaxy Z Fold 6. With the number of reports growing, users will eagerly be waiting for a response and, hopefully, a solution. In the meantime, some are opting to return or exchange their devices, while others are keeping a close ear (and eye) on their new phones.

SOLVED. I had the same issue on my Fold6 - when closing the phone, it creaked like an old wooden door. I had the device replaced by Samsung, because the service admitted that this was abnormal. My second device after began to make similar soundsa week , but it was more like a trust, and after two weeks it began to creak even worse. I decided to deal with this problem myself - I used WD40 sprat, very little and carefully applied it into the bending mechanism, into the cracks. The sound disappeared immediately and has not returned yet, two weeks have passed. If you do this - very, very carefully, you need to spray just a little bit, so as not to flood the board
