Early in the month, Sonos addressed some pressing issues with iOS battery drain and improved the stability of adding new products. A firmware update brought better responsiveness for volume changes and addressed issues with local library browsing, giving users a more seamless experience.

Not stopping there, Sonos rolled out another update that introduced TV audio swapping capabilities for both iOS and Android and provided a tool for downgrading from the S2 to the S1 system. Users also got to enjoy new Group Volume controls, and iOS users saw a return of the much-missed mute button.

But the excitement wasn’t limited to just software tweaks. Sonos’ third-quarter financial results showed strong revenue numbers, buoyed by the introduction of Sonos Ace headphones. However, this positive news was tempered by user frustrations over glitches in the redesigned app. CEO Patrick Spence addressed these concerns openly, assuring users that while a rollback to the previous app was considered, sticking with the current version and improving it was ultimately the better choice.

Now, a new update is rolling out — version 80.07.03 for iOS and 80.07.05 for Android — aiming to refine the core app experience and fix persistent bugs. This update brings accessibility improvements in settings, fixes for setup bugs, and new features like a Night Mode toggle in Room Settings for soundbars. Android users will also be pleased to see the addition of queue-clearing capabilities. These changes are part of a phased roll-out, ensuring stability and smooth user experiences. Below is the full changelog:

  • Accessibility improvements in Settings
  • Improved smoothness and reliability for product setup
  • Added the ability to clear the queue on Android
  • Added Night Mode toggle in Room Settings for sound bars

Looking ahead, Sonos is focusing on enhancing volume responsiveness, improving UI based on customer feedback, and overall system stability. With updates planned for alarm reliability, queue editing, and support for Trueplay on iOS 18, Sonos is committed to delivering the seamless experience their users expect. As they continue to refine their app and introduce new enhancements, Sonos hopes to regain the trust of their customers and solidify their position as a leading audio brand.
