Spotify crashes when I click on any album after the latest update. Does anyone also have this issue? The app became unusable, since tapping on playlists also crashes the app.

It seems Spotify users on the latest beta are facing issues with the app, as it crashes or doesn’t load in certain cases. The problems appear to be concentrated around version 9.0.48, with users reporting that the app crashes when trying to open playlists, albums, or artist pages. This comes just days after the stable version kept crashing for many when opening the Now Playing view.
The issues first surfaced earlier this week, with users taking to Reddit and Spotify’s community forums to report identical problems. Many describe seeing “something went wrong” error messages despite having stable internet connections. The app often behaves as if it’s running in offline mode, even when connected to WiFi or mobile data.
“Everytime I open a playlist or album, I get a ‘something went wrong’ error and then it crashes,” reported one user on Honor 90 running Android 15. “When opening an artist’s page, it opens in offline mode even though I have internet connection.”
Reports have come from various device manufacturers including Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and Honor smartphones. Spotify’s moderators have acknowledged the issue and confirmed their technical team is investigating the beta version instability.
Standard troubleshooting methods like clearing cache, reinstalling the app, and switching internet connections haven’t resolved the problem for most users. Even those who opted out of the beta program and reinstalled the stable version continue experiencing the same issues.
One user found a temporary workaround that involves adding playlists to your library through search results, then using the “start a jam” feature to queue the entire playlist. While clunky, this method allows some functionality until a proper fix arrives.
For now, users experiencing these issues can try the playlist workaround or consider temporarily switching to Spotify’s web player until the beta version receives an update. Alternatively, you can also download an older APK and sideload it for the time being. The widespread nature of these reports suggests a fix should be prioritized given the app’s complete unusability for many beta participants.
