Spotify is the best music streaming service for many of us, but it’s currently facing two major user frustrations.

First, the ability to “hide” songs from the coveted “Discover Weekly” playlist has vanished for desktop users. While mobile users can still banish unwanted tracks to the digital ether, desktop listeners are stuck with songs they’d rather forget. For those of you who curate your perfect listening experience by skipping over certain tracks, the “Hide this song” feature in the Discover Weekly playlist can be a lifesaver. This explains the massive outrage that has built over the past couple or so months since the feature went missing on desktop.

Spotify acknowledges the issue, stating they’re making some internal changes hence the missing option to hide songs in the Discover Weekly playlist. But they are working to “improve the underlying solution across Mobile and Desktop.” Interestingly, you can still hide songs from the Discover Weekly playlist on mobile, so this may be your only way out for now.

Podcast problems: The ‘Recently updated’ list that isn’t updating

If you’re a podcast aficionado, you’ve probably encountered another glitch that’s been causing quite the stir. The “Recently Updated” list in the podcast section isn’t updating properly on iOS devices. New episodes are there, lurking in the shadows, but they only appear once you manually click on each podcast. It’s like playing hide-and-seek with your favorite shows—not exactly the seamless experience we’ve come to expect from Spotify.

This issue has been reported by users across mobile platforms, with detailed accounts of the list not refreshing automatically. Spotify’s team is aware of the problem and is hard at work on a fix. For now, you might have to do a bit of manual digging to keep up with your favorite podcasters.

Hey folks,

We’ve received some reports that the podcast “Recently Updated” list is not updating. This is being investigated.

Spotify assures users that these hiccups are temporary and that fixes are on the way. The company is actively listening to feedback and working to improve the user experience across all devices. So, while these issues might be a tad annoying, rest assured that the Spotify team is on it.

In the meantime, mobile users can continue to enjoy the ‘Hide this song’ feature, and desktop users can look forward to its return. As for the podcast glitch, keep an eye out for updates, and maybe give your favorite shows a little extra attention.
