Update 17/09/24 04:42 pm (IST): The folks over at Spotify have confirmed that the Release Radar bug has been fixed. Here’s what they say:

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue. We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version. If you’re still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Original article published on September 16, 2024, follows:

Spotify has publicly confirmed that they’re currently looking into two significant issues affecting user experience: the recently played artists section not updating correctly and problems with the Release Radar playlist.

Many users have reported that their recently played artists list is not reflecting their current listening habits. Instead, the list appears to be stuck showing artists from several days ago. This issue persists even after users have tried troubleshooting steps such as signing out, reinstalling the app, and updating their devices.

One user commented, “It seems to have reverted back to a list of artists I played a few days ago, but not updating with the latest ones I am playing… for me or anyone else I view.” The problem is occurring across various iOS and Android devices.

Spotify support has acknowledged the issue, stating, “Our team is working on that feature so there are some changes temporarily.” They’ve assured users that they’re actively working on a fix, but no specific timeline has been provided. That said, some users claim that the issue is resolved for them. However, other’s say it’s still broken, even after installing the latest Spotify update.

Concurrently, Spotify is also investigating problems with the Release Radar playlist, a popular feature that provides users with a personalized selection of new releases each week. Users are reporting a range of issues with this feature, including an inability to access the Release Radar playlist, error messages stating “This content is no longer available,” empty playlists when accessed through different platforms such as the web player, desktop app, or mobile app, and in some cases, the complete disappearance of the Release Radar playlist from users’ accounts. These widespread problems are significantly impacting users’ ability to discover new music through this normally reliable feature.

One frustrated user shared, “Release radar says ‘cannot load at this time.’ I have screenshots but can’t load them, it doesn’t matter if I use phone or web player on desktop. Every other Spotify generated playlist works.”

Similar to the other problem, some users say that the issue is fixed for them, while others aren’t as lucky. As of now, there’s no clear indication of when these problems will be resolved. We’d suggest keeping an eye out for an update for Spotify on your devices.
