Spotify is looking into a bug that’s causing Liked Songs to appear empty or go missing entirely from users’ libraries, and for some people, years’ worth of saved music has seemingly just vanished from the app.

The company’s community forum has an active thread on the issue, which was updated by a moderator with an “Under investigation” status. According to the post, users are either seeing an empty Liked Songs playlist or the section is missing from their library altogether. In some cases, the track count is just lower than it should be.

From what I was able to gather from user reports, the web player still seems to show songs correctly for most people. It’s the standalone apps on mobile and desktop where things fall apart. One user said they lost access to around 40,000 liked songs after reinstalling Spotify on their devices, though the web version still showed everything intact. Another reported their count dropped from 30,000 to about 9,800 after deleting the iPhone app.

It’s not limited to one platform either. Reports are coming in from Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows users. One person said their songs are still showing up on their Tesla’s Spotify app, of all places, but nowhere else.

Spotify’s moderator did share a workaround in the thread: open Spotify on desktop, play the first song from your Liked Songs, remove it, then re-add it. Some users say that triggered a sync. There’s also a suggestion to copy all Liked Songs to a new playlist from the desktop app, which should then show up on mobile. That said, at least a few users in the thread report that neither fix worked for them.

But judging by the limited number of complaints, it seems like a niche bug. In my tests on Android and iOS devices, the songs showed up just fine in the Liked Songs playlist. Either way, if you are also in the same boat, at least you can rest easy knowing that you’re not alone.

Worth noting, this isn’t the only thing Spotify has been dealing with lately. Last week, we covered a separate playback bug where music stopped after every track ended, which was also under investigation.

No fix has been announced yet. Spotify said they’ll update the thread once there’s more to share.
