Got it! Our developers are on the case as we speak. Hopefully we'll have a fix soon!

Spotify users are reporting a widespread issue where the app displays a “Something went wrong” error message on desktop devices. While music playback seems unaffected, many users are unable to load key sections like the Home page, Library, or Search.
Reports are coming in from various platforms, including Spotify’s community forums, X, and Reddit. The problem appears to affect both Windows and macOS devices. Interestingly, Spotify’s mobile app seems to work without issues, making this error specific to desktop clients. Although, some even claim to notice the same problem on the Web Player. I, however, wasn’t able to replicate the issue on my browser.
Frustrated users have tried all the usual fixes: reinstalling the app, clearing cache and temporary files, turning off firewalls, resetting DNS settings, and even switching networks or using VPNs. Nothing seems to work.
A Reddit user said, “I tried reinstalling, resetting Windows hosts files, changing my IP, using different DNS servers, resetting the router like 10 times… Still no fix.”
Several others also noted that they could play songs but couldn’t access playlists or other sections on their desktop app. Another user said they resorted to selecting playlists from their phone and streaming them to their PC as a workaround.
Spotify’s support team acknowledged the problem earlier today, responding to a user’s complaint and confirming that their developers are working on a fix. In the meantime, they suggested basic troubleshooting steps like clearing browser cookies (for the Web Player) and avoiding VPNs. However, these solutions haven’t resolved the issue for many.
For now, it seems Spotify is aware of the problem but hasn’t provided a timeline for a fix. If you’re experiencing this issue, your best bet might be to stick to the mobile app or Web Player until the desktop app is back to normal.
We’ll update you when Spotify rolls out a solution. Have you encountered this error? Share your experience in the comments below.
