Update 29/11/24 02:23 pm (IST): NVIDIA has rolled out a fix for the gamepad issues players were experiencing when playing Stalker 2 via its GeForce Now service. Multiple players have confirmed that the issue has now been fixed. Feel free to let us know if you’re still facing the problem in the comments section below.
Original article published on November 28, 2024, follows:
NVIDIA is looking into a frustrating problem affecting Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl on its GeForce Now streaming platform. Players have reported issues with gamepads not working as expected, making the highly anticipated game nearly unplayable for those relying on controllers.
The company officially acknowledged the issue in a service status update posted on November 25, stating, “We are investigating problems using gamepads when playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.” However, there’s no estimated timeline for a fix yet.
According to user reports on the GeForce Now subreddit, the game recognizes gamepads but doesn’t register input during gameplay. This issue has persisted for over a week, with one player sharing their frustration:
I spent $60 on this game and can’t even play it with a controller on GFN. It’s listed as supported input, so this is really disappointing.
Some users have suggested a workaround by using GeForce Now’s virtual mouse and keyboard to adjust controller settings via the Steam client, but this is far from an ideal solution.
Adding to the chaos, Stalker 2 is also facing trouble on Xbox. Players on Game Pass for PC have reported crashes and save file corruption, leading to hours of lost progress. Further more, the devs are also working on an issue with controllers on the platform.
Interestingly, some players tried Boosteroid, another cloud gaming service, to bypass the GeForce Now issue. While controllers reportedly work fine on Boosteroid, lag and other performance problems have pushed many users back to waiting for NVIDIA’s fix.
For now, NVIDIA says it’s actively working on a solution, and the Stalker 2 developers are also aware of ongoing performance bugs across platforms. In the meantime, players may need to be patient or explore temporary fixes until NVIDIA provides a proper update. As usual, we’ll keep track of any further developments and will update the article.

Controllers are still broken on GFN. I have submitted another feedback with them. It basically half works and just switches back and forth between MKB and gamepad. Pretty disappointing.
