Tidal seems to have quietly gotten rid of a handy feature that many users found useful. The clickable credits functionality, which allowed listeners to explore detailed information about musicians, producers, and other contributors to their favorite tracks, has disappeared from both desktop and mobile versions of the app.

The feature was particularly popular among music enthusiasts who used it as their primary method of discovering new artists and songs. Users could previously click on any contributor listed in a song’s credits and instantly access their profile, complete with a comprehensive list of their work across different roles.

Why can't I click on the artists and producers?

Reddit user justin_CO_88 expressed their disappointment on the platform’s subreddit, writing:

I used to like looking at artist contributions other than their original music. For example, going to an artist and viewing a playlist of songs where they are listed as a composer or producer. It seems like that feature has been removed? I also tried going into song credits and it looks like you can’t click on a person’s name to view their work anymore.

Many subscribers described it as one of Tidal’s key differentiators from competitors like Spotify, which has never offered comprehensive clickable credits functionality. Another frustrated user, Severe_Cranberry5657, said:

It was my primary way of finding new music. It’s amazing when you hear amazing bass line on a song, to click on the bass player and see all the songs they played bass on. It’s how I found about some of my favourite musicians.

The change appears to have been implemented gradually, with the desktop version losing the functionality approximately two months ago, followed by the mobile apps more recently. When users contacted Tidal’s support team about the missing feature, they were reportedly told that it had been permanently removed and would not be returning.

Granted how Tidal charges a premium compared to other music streaming services, its user base is frustrated, by the fact that the app took away such a handy feature. User North_Ear shared their frustration, stating:

One of Tidal’s greatest features, gone. Their audience is clearly going to be more audiophile? We were happy to pay $20+ a month, why remove such great features that music lovers love?

While Apple Music offers some credit viewing capabilities, users report that it lacks the clickable functionality that made Tidal’s implementation so valuable for discovery. For now, disappointed users are turning to external resources like AllMusic.com to research artist contributions, but these workarounds lack the seamless integration that made Tidal’s original feature so appealing.

The company has not provided any public explanation for the removal or indicated whether a replacement feature might be in development. So it seems users might just have to get used to how things work right now. Though, it’s possible that if there’s enough feedback, Tidal might actually revet the change. But we’ll just have to wait and see if that happens.
