TikTok users have been taking to social media to vent about a strange shift in their For You Page, or FYP. Over the past few days, many say their feeds have been overrun with slideshows instead of the usual video content they expect from the app. Complaints are popping up on Reddit, X, and even TikTok itself, with users frustrated by endless two-picture posts and a lack of engaging videos.
One Reddit user posted, “For the past few days I’ve only been getting slideshows on my fyp. The only time I get a video is if it’s an ad. Is anyone else having this problem?” Others quickly chimed in, sharing similar experiences.
Another user wrote, “Can anyone tell me why my FYP keeps transitioning to show only slide shows? Even when resetting my FYP it’s normal for a few hours then back to just showing slide shows.” The pattern seems consistent across multiple accounts, with slideshows dominating feeds and videos becoming rare.
Some users have also noticed changes in their content preferences and algorithm. “I used to feel like my algorithm was so solid and tailored to my interests and now it’s just these random two slide posts,” one user commented. Others mentioned that previously engaged-with content categories, including political content, have disappeared from their feeds entirely.
The widespread nature of these reports suggests a potential platform-wide issue rather than isolated cases. While some users have reported temporary returns to normal video content, the majority continue to experience this slideshow-dominated feed.
So what’s causing this? Theories are floating around, but nothing’s confirmed. Some think it’s a glitch in TikTok’s algorithm, while others suspect it might be a test of new content formats. One user suggested resetting the FYP through the app’s settings. However, doing this would result in your FYP serving up random content and you’ll have to rebuild your preferences again. That said, it might be a way to restore normalcy for a bit before the slideshows creep back in.
TikTok has not yet officially addressed these concerns or provided an explanation for the sudden shift in content delivery. Whether it’s a bug or an intentional shift, it’s clear people aren’t happy about it. That said, this is the second time in the span of just a month that users have been facing issues with content on the FYP. Last month, we saw plenty of reports about irrelevant content on the For You Page after the brief US ban.
So all users can hope is for TikTok to fix the algorithm and bring back their preferred content again.
