Donald Trump’s latest move is turning heads, and not for the right reasons. The President dropped a wild AI-generated video on Truth Social, picturing Gaza as a glitzy luxury resort. Imagine golden Trump statues, belly dancers, and Elon Musk throwing cash on a beach. It’s weird, it’s bold, and it’s got people buzzing.
The 30-second clip kicks off with shots of war-torn Gaza, then flips to a dreamy version with skyscrapers, fancy hotels, and kids clutching Trump balloons. A cheesy song blares, “Donald’s coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear, Trump Gaza’s finally here. Trump Gaza shining bright, golden future a brand new light. Feast and dance the deal is done, Trump Gaza number one.”
Here’s the video that you’ll probably hope you never saw in the first place:
Trump posted it to push his idea of making Gaza “the Riviera of the Middle East,” part of a plan to have the US take over and move its 2 million Palestinians elsewhere. Let’s just say it’s not going over well.
Folks on Truth Social aren’t holding back. One user wrote, “This is just plain wrong!! This video is in very bad taste and just plain horrible!! The gold statue is 100% wrong no matter which way you try to make it come across. This video makes me sick.” Another said, “I am a true fan of DJT, but I find this very insensitive to be released on a very sad day like today; the funeral for the beautiful Bibas family (mom and two children) who were killed in Gaza.” Even Reddit’s Conservative crowd is slamming it. The backlash is loud and clear.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to spin it, calling Trump “an outside-of-the-box thinker,” as highlighted by Forbes. But good luck selling that when the video’s getting roasted left and right.
Here’s the bigger deal, though. This oddball video might be the first ripple of AI splashing into mainstream politics everywhere. If leaders start leaning on AI to pitch their plans, it could change the game. Such surreal videos might start popping up to hype policies or sway voters. It’s not hard to see that happening. Given how rapidly AI is advancing, these videos could probably even mislead thousands of voters.
Social media’s already a mess with deepfakes and fake news. Now, toss in AI clips from big-shot politicians. Platforms will scramble to figure out what’s fair game and what’s trouble. Free speech? Sure. Chaos? Maybe.
Trump’s Gaza video is easy to laugh off, but it’s a heads-up. AI’s sneaking into the political toolbox. As it gets sharper, those videos will too. Love it or hate it, this could be the start of something huge. Politics might never look the same around the world. The worst part? While folks like me and you might be able to spot AI-generated videos, you’d be surprised to know how many people don’t catch on. It’s a disaster in the making.
