If you’re one of the lucky owners of a new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 or Galaxy Watch Ultra, you might have noticed something fishy going on with your weather complication. That cool little feature that keeps you updated on whether to bring a jacket or leave it at home? Yeah, it’s not working as expected.

The latest software update rolled out nearly a month ago with promises of enhanced stability and reliability. Sounds great, right? Well, not quite. Instead of fixing all the bugs, this update left one glaring issue untouched: the weather complication just doesn’t want to update for some Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra users. If you’ve been shaking your wrist at your watch in frustration, hoping it would get its act together, you’re not alone.

What’s going on with Galaxy Watch 7 weather complication?

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra seem to have a preference for getting their weather updates from the Samsung Weather app, a feature they can easily access when paired with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. But if you’re pairing your watch with a non-Samsung Galaxy phone, like a Google Pixel or OnePlus, you’re in for some bad weather news — or rather, no weather news at all.

Here’s the thing. When the Samsung Weather app isn’t present (or is disabled) on your phone, the watch should ideally default to using its own app to refresh the weather. But guess what? That feature is currently broken. And since Google Pixel and other non-Samsung phones rely on other weather apps, users of these devices are left high and dry, weather-wise.

If you’re rocking a Galaxy Watch with a Samsung Galaxy phone but for some reason you’ve disabled the Samsung Weather app in favor of something else, you might be able to fix this issue. Just re-enable the Samsung Weather app. You don’t have to use it, just keep it enabled and hidden away if you want. Your watch will then have the data pipeline it needs to keep your weather complication up to date.

Samsung has yet to officially acknowledge this issue. Until they roll out a fix, make sure your Samsung Weather app is enabled, especially if you’ve got a Samsung phone. And if you’re using a different weather app on your Galaxy phone, maybe reconsider enabling the Samsung one, even if it’s just to keep your wrist happy.

Elsewhere, some Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch users are reporting sync issues with Outlook, but we have a workaround you can check out.
