Update 28/08/24 9:00 am (IST): Musk’s X seems to have resolved the partial outage in a short while. The home feed is now loading just fine.

Original article published on August 28, 2024, follows:

Thousands of X (formerly Twitter) users are reporting issues with their home feeds not loading or refreshing. The problem seems to have started abruptly, catching many users off guard and sparking a flurry of confusion across the platform.

According to user reports, the main feed appears stuck, displaying the message “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” Despite the loading issues, direct links to posts and other features of the platform seem to be functioning normally. I noticed the bug a few minutes ago since I wasn’t able to load the home feed on the X app for Android or a desktop browser.

Users have taken to posting about the outage using hashtags like #TwitterDown, with many questioning if the problem is widespread or limited to their accounts. This live search link shows hundreds of posts on X itself about the outage. Some are humorously pondering if it’s finally time to update their mental vocabulary from “Twitter” to “X,” while others are speculating about potential causes for the disruption.

“How is twitter/x down rn?” questioned one user, echoing the sentiment of many others trying to figure out what’s happening. Even Downdetector shows a massive surge in reports from users indicating problems on X.

Interestingly, the outage itself has become a topic of conversation on the platform, with users finding creative ways to discuss the very issue preventing them from using the site normally. Some are even using the downtime as an opportunity for playful jabs, with one user quipping that “twitter’s down because it’s mourning logan.”

As of now, X has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the outage or an estimated time for resolution. The issue will likely be resolved sooner rather than later. So keep hitting that refresh button to see if it works. In the meantime, the X community continues to do what it does best – talk about X on X, even when X isn’t working quite right.
