2025 is here, and like many, I decided it was time to tidy up my digital life. First stop: clearing out my bookmarks on X, that little corner where I stash posts that range from “must-read later” to “why did I save this?”

While on desktop, I opened my bookmarks, fully prepared to hit the magical “Clear all Bookmarks” option and start fresh. But lo and behold, the more icon (those three dots in the top corner) was nowhere to be found. I blinked, refreshed the page, and even tried a different browser, but the result was the same. The elusive option to “Clear all Bookmarks” had vanished from the desktop version of X.

At first, I thought maybe it was just me but then I found this Reddit thread. A quick trip to the Help Center confirmed the steps to remove all bookmarks on desktop: tap the more icon (…) at the top of your Bookmarks timeline to remove all of your bookmarks at once, but this option is now gone.

On mobile (both Android and iOS), you can still tap the more icon and voila, a clear-all option awaits. But on desktop? Not a chance. Instead, I found myself manually removing each bookmark, one by one. A tedious process that felt more like a trip down memory lane than a clean-up mission.

Clear-all-bookmarks-on-X

Why this sudden change, X? Did the desktop version offend you in some way? Or perhaps this is a clever ploy to get us all glued to our mobile screens even more? Whatever the reason, it’s clear that for desktop users, the convenience of a one-click bookmark purge is no longer on the menu.

So, if you’re looking to declutter your bookmarks in 2025, take my advice: switch to the mobile app. Save yourself the endless clicking and embrace the joy of a fresh, clean slate with just a few taps. How long this will remain a mobile-only feature remains to be seen.

As for me, I’ll be here, waiting for the day when “Clear all Bookmarks” returns to the desktop version of X.

In other news, X now displays Grok-generated queries under some posts.
