YouTube users are at their wits’ end with the latest update, which has turned the once smooth “Add to Queue” function into a frustrating ordeal. Not long ago, YouTube tweaked the queueing system, making it slightly more cumbersome by requiring users to click three tiny dots under a video to add it to the queue, rather than the previously easy-to-find buttons. Now, a new bug has surfaced, driving users to distraction by restarting the currently playing video every time a new video is added to the queue.

For many, this glitch is more than a minor inconvenience. Imagine watching a video and deciding to line up another for later. Instead of seamlessly adding to the queue, the current video jumps back to the beginning, leaving you scrambling to find your place again. The problem seems universal, plaguing various devices and platforms, from Android TV and Amazon Fire Stick setups to Samsung, Chromecast and Roku TV. Even users with premium accounts aren’t spared from the aggravation.

Reports are pouring in from frustrated users who are encountering this issue on everything from their smart TVs to their iPhones and Xfinity boxes. It doesn’t matter if the device is paused or playing, the result is the same: the video resets to the start. Some have tried troubleshooting steps like restarting devices, clearing caches, and reinstalling the app, but nothing seems to work.

One user humorously speculated that YouTube programmers might be showing up to work under the influence, given the seemingly random and disruptive changes, and it’s hard to disagree at this point. This bug, which affects even the simple act of watching a playlist, has baffled many who rely on YouTube for their entertainment. The irony isn’t lost on users that a feature meant to enhance their viewing experience now hinders it significantly.

Despite the widespread frustration, there’s some hope. TeamYouTube has acknowledged the issue multiple times on X, assuring users that they are investigating the problem. While this response provides some solace, many YouTube users are impatiently waiting for a fix that will bring back the ability to add a video to the queue without worrying about forced restarts.

The once straightforward and enjoyable act of queueing videos on YouTube has become a test of patience. But hopefully, a fix will become available sooner than later.
