This bug follows a series of Discord-related hiccups across different platforms. Android users recently had to deal with a broken image-swiping feature, which Discord acknowledged and promised to fix soon. Meanwhile, desktop users are adjusting to a fresh new UI, as Discord rolls out a redesign that modernizes the look but has also stirred mixed reactions.
Discord has been making major changes lately, both visually and functionally. From experimenting with an expiring online status to introducing a feature that lets you archive and restore old avatars, the app is clearly in a state of evolution. But with all these updates, it’s no surprise that some bugs are crawling into the mix.
While there’s no official acknowledgment of the GIF loading issue yet, the timing suggests it could be a side effect of ongoing back-end changes. It wouldn’t be the first time a Discord update unintentionally breaks a beloved feature.
