Update 31/05/24 pm (IST): A Motorola employee on the community forums has shed some light on the status of the update that’s supposedly set to bring the improvement. Here’s their statement:

I fully understand how frustrating this can be. Having reliable notifications is important. We are working to address this concern and plan to include improvements in the Android 14 update. However, we cannot provide an exact timeline for when the update will be available. Currently, we’re in the testing phase with some of our MFN users. Once we feel the software is stable enough and have received any required partner approvals, we will start rolling it out to everyone else. (Source)

Motorola Edge 40 Neo users plagued by delayed notifications due to network connectivity problems can breathe a sigh of relief. A Motorola agent has confirmed that a fix for these frustrating issues is on the horizon, slated to arrive with the upcoming Android 14 update.

The Moto Edge 40 Neo picked up Android 14 update back in March, but this didn’t fix the annoying delayed notifications issue from the previous Android 13. Users have been vocal about their experiences with the network problems, which range from dropped calls and delayed messages to difficulties with UPI payments and even the phone appearing as “off” despite full network coverage. These network issues have caused significant inconvenience for many Motorola Edge 40 Neo owners.

Some users described having to constantly toggle airplane mode to regain network connectivity. Others reported calls going straight to voicemail despite their phones displaying a full signal. Many others have complained of delayed notifications, particularly from messaging apps like WhatsApp and Instagram.

Last week, a Motorola agent acknowledged the severity of the problem and assured users that a solution is in the works. While the exact nature of the fix remains undisclosed, the fact that it’s tied to the Android 14 update suggests a deeper, software-level issue.

I know how hard it is not to get notifications on time on these apps. The issue with delayed notifications is something our team has been investigating and there is an improvement for this in the upcoming A14 update. We thank everyone for bringing this to our attention.

This news brings hope to those who have been grappling with the network woes on the Moto Edge 40 Neo. However, some users remain cautiously optimistic, citing lingering network issues even after the most recent Android 14 update. They report continued delays in notifications, especially from messaging apps. Hopefully, Motorola manages to axe all network-related issues when the promised Android 14-based update rolls out.

Despite these concerns, the confirmation of a fix is a positive step. Motorola’s acknowledgment of the problem and commitment to resolving it through a software update demonstrates a willingness to address user concerns. When this update will arrive remains to be seen, though.

Motorola is also working to address other Moto Edge 40 Neo issues such as slow charging and overheating. Users of the phone have also reported power and volume buttons coming off, but there’s still no word on what plans Moto has for them.
