Discord users on desktop are running into a pesky problem. Profile pictures in voice calls are shifting out of place, moving from the center to the upper left corner. It’s throwing off the look of the interface and making things harder for people who use Discord every day. The bug seems to have popped up after a very recent update which followed the UI revamp.
Over the past few days, posts flooded the platform’s subreddit as users shared screenshots of their calls looking jumbled. One Reddit user, Tough_Violinist1211, kicked off the conversation by asking if others had seen their profile pictures drift to the corner. Dozens replied with similar complaints.
“My pfp moved from the center to the upper left corner,” Tough_Violinist1211 wrote. Others chimed in with frustration. User MotorChampion3381 criticized the update, calling it a “dumb move” and arguing the old layout worked fine. “Why the hell do they keep messing with things that aren’t broken?” asked another user, lordys_.
The glitch isn’t just cosmetic. Some noted it messed with practical features like adjusting volume sliders, which now hover awkwardly near the misaligned icons. “I can’t even fix or adjust user volume anymore cause it’s way above to the side,” said Zabuza_exe.
The bug affects both the desktop app and web version, hinting at a deeper code-level flaw. Linux and macOS users aren’t spared either. Some speculated screen resolution differences might play a role, but reports vary.
While the bug appears widespread, not every call is affected. A few users found temporary fixes, like enabling a camera to force the UI into a different layout. “The way we’ve ‘fixed it’ is by one of us having their camera on,” shared thelols4. Others tried reinstalling Discord or clearing temporary files, but most workarounds fell flat.
Discord’s subreddit moderators began removing repeat posts about the issue, citing frequent reposts. Still, threads kept popping up as more users spotted the problem. Some blamed the update for rushing changes without proper testing. “Bugs happen, who knows,” commented Woofer210. “This bug could have been caused by some seemingly unrelated line of CSS being removed.”
The company hasn’t officially addressed the issue yet, but many expect a patch soon. Despite the annoyance, most agree the bug isn’t catastrophic. Calls still connect, and audio works. So it seems you might have to deal with the bug until an upcoming update addresses the root cause.
